Interval (2023)
Interval is consist of a ‘stage’ (120x120x50cm) a chair, a lamp, a radio, a kettle and a light bulb. Inspired by the story of one of the most serious storm happened in Europe, 1999, told by a friend, the set presents an immersive audio experience through the objects. With using the audio exicters, attaching on the objects, the sound plays through different surfaces.
The audio twiggling together randomly. The lamp represents a sense of time. It turns on and off occationally. The work title Interval refers to the silence when the lamp turns on.
The work origins from the interviews about winds. It was told about the storm Lothar, in Europe, 1999. I processed the vulnerability of the description about the sound in that expereience by a friend, transforming them into a tangible experience. The work intends to present a theatratical sense, by letting the objects ‘perform’ by themselves.
The work was exhibited at Safehouse, London.

Wind / Memory
Menier Gallery, London2021
A bench and a hanging light bulb constitute a theatrical set, where re-created soundscapes of wind are played through headphones. Based on the interviews of a time encounting with a wind in the interviewers’ memories, the soundscapes were created to revive the sound of the wind in their memories. You can hear the sounds in the ‘wind’ from a boiling kettle, scratching knifes, a fizzing vitamine tablet in water and heavy breaths... While the light bulb is wiggling by real-time data intervention, the soundscapes in the headphones are changing at the same time.
A research and practice-based project exploring the emotional and cultural connections between people's memories and the wind in nature. The work proposes to answer the question that why human beings intuitively believe that nature is poetic and profound. It reflects the concept that the ecology between natural environments and the culture of human beings in Ecological Anthropology.
I attempted to create a theatrical experience which combines installation art, interactive technologies and documentary, to communicate ideas tangibly, in order to provoke audiences to think about their relationship with nature.

Sound Pendulum
2021
Sound Pendulum is an interactive installation that intends to create a sonic-experience combining physical movement in the space and real-time data intervertion.
The main structure of the installation is a speaker hung up like a pendulum, equipped with an accelero/gyrometer sensor to capture its swinging movement. The sensor transforms the movement into real-time data to affect the auido instantly which is amplified from the speaker.
The installation was exhibited at Iklectik, London in the event ‘Leave No Trace’ as part of the RCA - IED 2021 Degree show.
